Christine Lydia Coven Obituary - 2023 (2024)

Christine Lydia Coven (nee Bujack), age 77, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 20, 2023, at her home in Silver Lake.

Chris was born in Murnau, Bavaria, Germany on August 17, 1946, the daughter of the late Polish immigrants Joseph Alfred Bujack and Sophie Bujack (nee Pyde). Immigrating into this country as a child on July 22, 1949, she came to this country with her parents with a dream of success. After graduating from Kent State University in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry, she finished her schooling in 1974 with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron. Chris found a job at Goodyear Aerospace in 1977, when, on October 18, 1984, she joined its Law Department. She remained with the company as it was bought out and became Loral Defense Systems in 1987 and then became Lockheed Martin Corporation in 1996. She retired in 2004. Chris was a member of the Akron and Ohio Bar Association.

She enjoyed music, art, and nature. She grew extensive gardens around her house, from which she would watch birds, chipmunks, and rabbits. She collected bakelite flatware, vintage linens, and large sets of dishes. She loved life at her home which was her place of refuge. Chris especially loved watching sunsets from her west sunroom windows. Beauty surrounded her in all that she did. She was a beautiful person who lived a spiritual life full of love and kindness.

Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sophie Bujack. She is survived by her son, Matthew, of Streetsboro, and her sister, Elizabeth Bujack (Michael Crooker), of Kent. She is also survived by nephew, Andrew (Monique) Crooker, their son, Andrew Jr., and niece, Lily, all of Kent.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me – put it into practice.” Philippians 4:8-9.

Visitation will be TUESDAY, November 28, 2023 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 931 E. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. Funeral services will follow at 1:00PM on TUESDAY at the church with Pastor David Lathrop officiating. Interment will be at Standing Rock Cemetery.
