This study is based upon Bass and Riggio’s (2006) Augmentation Model on Transactional and Transformational Leadership, in which this quantitative study sought to identify the amount of variance in police officer job satisfaction and organizational commitment that can be explained by police chiefs’ transformational leadership behaviors above and beyond the influence of transactional behaviors. A total of 166 police officers were surveyed in five central New Jersey police departments in relation to their job satisfaction and organizational commitment, as well as the leadership behaviors in which their police chiefs engaged, utilizing Bass and Avolio’s (2004) Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ-5X). This researcher then used a simultaneous multiple regression analysis to test Bass and Riggio’s (2006) Model within the sample group. The results of this study provide researchers with a replicable method of research with which to examine Bass and Riggio’s (2006) Augmentation Model. It will also provide practitioners and police leaders with actionable guidance on leadership behaviors that can positively influence police officers’ job satisfaction and organizational commitment within their communities and the field of law enforcement.

Affects of Similarity Model on Organizational Commitment Thesis

Mojtaba Saeidinia

Motivation is the key to success in any organization. This motivational responsibility for managing and motivating the organizations staff is measured on two scales at the same time as. in reference to Hellriegel, Slocum, Woodman in Organizational Behavior (2001), “Motivation represents the forces acting on or contained by a person that cause the person to behave in a specific, goal-directed manner...Because the work motives of employees affect their productivity; one of management’s jobs is to channel employee motivation successfully toward achieving organizational goals.” Our paper’s focus is on motivational procedure in an organization; the dissimilar leadership styles that an organization can activate under, and how these styles affect the organizational commitment, and eventually the efficiency of an organization. There are many measurements of guidance, management, and models which aspire to assess the employees’ connectedness, or commitment to the organization. Transformational leaders are those who guide followers in the direction of established goals by clarifying role and task requirements. Transactional leaders hold a view of their tasks as a transactional process whereby leaders respond to subordinates' basic lower level and security needs.

Leadership style, employee motivation and commitment: Empirical evidence from a consolidated retail bank operating in a depressed economy

Ashwin Deokule

The study investigated the relationship between different leadership styles and employee motivation and commitment after a merger in a retail bank operating in an economically volatile environment. Data were collected from 121 employees (17 managers and 104 non-managerial) using three closed-ended questionnaires. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire Form 5X was used to measure leadership styles and the Organisational Commitment Questionnaire was used to measure employees' commitment. Employee Motivation Questionnaire developed from Herzberg's Two-Factor Theory and from the Job Design measured employees' motivation. Using measures of central tendency and correlation analyses, results indicated weak but significantly positive relationship between different leadership styles and employee motivation and commitment. The advantage of this study is that it can provide a practical framework for designing management systems that can be used by other financial institutions in depressed economies in the future.
