CORNFLAKE WREATH COOKIE INGREDIENTS

This recipe only requires five ingredients that you most likely already have on hand!

Butter– I chose to use salted for this recipe, however you can use unsalted if that is all you have on hand.

Mini Marshmallows– I enjoy using the mini marshamallows because they melt down faster, but you can use the full size marshmallows as well.

Green Food Coloring– I recommend using gel food color. It is more concentrated so a little goes a long way compared to liquid. I think I am just a gel snob though, so use whatever you have on hand.

Cornflakes– I find that Cornflakes give the most “realistic” wreath look, but you can use whatever cereal you prefer! I recommend staying with a cereal that does not have any color to it or too much added sugar.

Red M&M’s or Red Hot Candy– Or any other candy you like!

HOW TO MAKE CORNFLAKE WREATHS

This recipe is very similar to making Rice Krispy treats and is just as fast!

  1. Melt your butter and mini marshmallows together in a microwave safe bowl.
  2. Stir in food coloring.
  3. Fold in cornflake cereal.
  4. Form discs with your hands or using a cookie cutter (I highly recommend using a cookie cutter to get a more uniform look).
  5. Use a wooden spoon or your finger to poke a hole in the center of each disc.
  6. Decorate.

VARIATIONS

Here are a few ways you can change up this recipe and make it truly unique and your own!

  • Use a different type of cereal. I went over this briefly above, but feel free to use whatever cereal you have on hand, however I recommend using one that doesn’t have a ton of added colors and sugar. I like Rice Krispies, Cheerios, and even Chex would work!
  • Use flavored marshmallows! I love the idea of using flavored marshmallows to give these no bake cookies a different flavor. Chocolate, strawberry, or caramel are just a few options. Keep in mind that the flavor of marshmallow you use could change the color of the cookies.
  • Decorations. Instead of using candy you can use frosting to decorate your wreaths however you like. You can also use different types of candy like candy ropes or nerds to make Christmas lights!

FAQ’S

Can you freeze Cornflake Wreaths?

I don’t recommend freezing them just because the marshmallow freezes so hard it makes the cookies harder to eat after being frozen. I recommend storing these in an air tight container at room temperature for up to five days.

How long do Cornflake Wreaths stay fresh?

If you store them in an airtight container at room temperature they will stay fresh for up to five days.

The cereal mixture keeps sticking to my hands when I try to shape it. What can I do to help?

You must do this with wet hands, or the marshmallow will just be attracted to your skin. If the water isn’t working for you, you can also spray your hands with nonstick spray
